How these pharmacist services in Abermain work
Take home naloxone is supplied under the Australian Government's Take Home Naloxone program, so there is no charge and no script needed if you might face an overdose yourself or see one happen to someone close to you. A pharmacist explains how to use the kit before you take it home.
For a work absence certificate, the pharmacist assesses your condition and can issue one for a brief absence due to minor illness. Longer or more serious illness is a matter for a doctor. Your award or workplace agreement can set out what evidence your employer accepts, so check it first.
Pharmacist, GP or 000?
- Pharmacist: a minor illness that needs a certificate, or a naloxone kit for your household.
- GP: symptoms that last, get worse or need a diagnosis.
- 000: any suspected overdose, signs of stroke, or someone who is unresponsive or struggling to breathe.
