Pharmacy near Cliftleigh NSW
Looking for a pharmacy near Cliftleigh NSW? Abermain Chemist is at 193 Cessnock Rd, Abermain, a short run west along the expressway, where you can fill scripts, have a vaccine or ask for a free health check.
The drive west to Cessnock Road
Cliftleigh sits east-northeast of Abermain, so the trip heads west. The route leaves along Main Road and joins the Hunter Expressway, then comes off at the Hart Road offramp. From there it follows Gingers Lane, Frame Drive and Orange Street before turning onto Cessnock Road, where the pharmacy is at number 193.
That works out at about 12.3 km by road, or around 14 minutes by car. The store trades Monday to Saturday; the opening hours page has the times, including what to do on a public holiday.
A young suburb split between two councils
Cliftleigh is one of the newer names on the local map: it was proposed in the NSW Government Gazette in 1970. The locality crosses a council boundary. Cessnock City Council's community profile covers the Cessnock City part of Cliftleigh and notes that the rest of the locality is in Maitland City.
Housing has spread quickly here. Council describes the Heddon Greta to Cliftleigh urban corridor as lying between the strategic centres of Kurri Kurri and Maitland, with substantial population growth in the last decade. The 2021 Census counted 2,309 residents, with a median age of 27.

Home delivery and Cliftleigh
Not confirmed: free local delivery from Abermain Chemist is confirmed for Abermain, Cessnock, Weston and Kurri Kurri only. Cliftleigh is not on that list, so phone (02) 4930 4442 with your street name before you count on a drop-off. The free medication delivery page explains how the service runs where it is available.
If you cannot make the drive yourself, someone else can collect for you. The Australian Digital Health Agency says you can forward your eScript token to a family member, carer or friend so they can pick up your medicine.
Cliftleigh questions
My doctor is in Maitland. Can I still fill the script with you?
Yes. The same agency advises that you visit the pharmacy of your choice and present your token, wherever the prescriber works. Barcoded paper scripts need to come in as the original.
Should I ring before driving over for a vaccine?
It helps. Walk-ins depend on a pharmacist immuniser being free, and a quick call lets you book or check before you set out on the expressway.
